3 out of 4 Americans report they feel they don’t belong in their local community.

It might seem like it’s just groceries. But by sharing the small things like a roll of paper towels or a few packs of ramen, we foster a sense of community where we’re able to rely on those around us.

Big block party

To kick off our campaign, we’re hosting block parties in neighborhoods that studies* report as lacking a sense of community, starting with Miami, Cleveland, and Detroit.

The More The Merrier

We’ll create and document moments of sharing as we randomly give out 25 pizzas, 100 hot dogs, or even 200 cookies to unsuspecting individuals at places where people spend a lot of time like skate parks, commuter trains, and busy libraries.

Buy One, Give One

On Black Friday, we’re shifting the focus from shopping to sharing with our Buy One, Give One sale.

As people do their regular shopping, we’ll match their purchases with donations to local shelters.

To provide a visual tracker for these donations, we’ll spread the letters of our logo at the start of the day both online and at our Cleveland Costco location to symbolize the disconnection many of us feel, bringing them back together as the donations increase throughout the day.

The Sharing Section

We’re proudly introducing the Costco Share Cam—a Jumbotron feature that highlights every time a fan catches a fly ball and gives it away at an MLB game. To reward this generous act, we’ll treat that entire section to free hot dogs so everyone can join in the fun of sharing.

Costco’s Community Tool Shed

To make community gardens more accessible to everyone across the country we’re opening up free-to-use Costco Community Tool Sheds that hold all the supplies needed to participate in any community garden near you.

The REALLY Big Park Cart

To emphasize just how fun sharing can be, we’re dropping off larger-than-life Costco carts filled with a variety of two-person games and activities at parks for the community to enjoy together.
